Live and live stream Folktoberfest events October 6, 7 &14
RIVER FOREST IL - Music & Potlucks will present the 5th annual Folktoberfest on Thursday October 6, Friday October 7 and Friday, October 14.
"Each autumn Music & Potlucks put together a special series of events to celebrate the beginning of our event season,” said Stephanie Schrodt of River Forest, who is co-director of 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
“This year we’ve lined up a live stream ‘Acoustic Neighbors’ showcase, a special hybrid ‘Pizza Friday’ concert and potluck to support our friends at Helping Hand in Countryside, a private house concert that was won as part of a raffle and we’ll finish up with ‘Yoga, Wine & Song.’ We work to present events that are musical, educational and always fun, while continuing to build community,” she said.
On Thursday, the live stream “Acoustic Neighbors” hosted by folk singer songwriter Mark Dvorak. The event presents a half-dozen acoustic performers from the area and from across the country. There is no admission and the program begins at 7:00 pm central time. A free-will donation to Music & Potlucks will be accepted. For information and registration visit www.musicandpotlucks.org.
Friday, October 7 is “Pizza Friday” at Helping Hand, 9649 55th Street, Countryside. The event kicks at 6:30 pm with a reception and potluck. The music begins at 7:00 pm and features 15 year-old guitarist and singer Charlie Archambault, an acoustic set by Americana duo Ashley and Simpson, and a performance by Music & Potlucks resident artist Mark Dvorak. Tickets are $5 or $20. The hybrid event will take place in the new performance and gallery space at Helping Hand and will also be live-streamed. Proceeds benefit Helping Hand.
