Desi Vasquez of Oak Park, Mark Dvorak headline February 8 live stream Songs For Peace & Justice
OAK PARK IL - Music & Potlucks, a community organization will present “Songs For Peace & Justice" on Monday, February 8 at 7:00 pm CST. The live stream concert will support Beyond Hunger Food Pantry and feature Oak Park’s Desi Vasquez and Chicago’s “official troubadour” Mark Dvorak.
Vasquez is well-known in the area as an interpreter of blues, jazz and pop standards from the Great American Songbook. She will be accompanied by guitarist Greg Baroni who is on the faculty at the Steckman Studio of Music in Oak Park.
“Desi has such a rich repertoire,” said Music & Potlucks co-director Stephanie Schrodt. “She & Greg will be presenting a program of songs by African-American performers and composers. We’re simply thrilled.”
Sharing the bill with Vasquez and Baroni will be folk singer-songwriter Mark Dvorak. The Chicago Tribune has called Dvorak “masterful,” and the Fox Valley Folk Festival describes him as “a living archive of song and style.”
The event is free of charge but donations will be accepted on behalf of Beyond Hunger Food Pantry in Oak Park. To receive the ZOOM live stream link email musicandpotlucks@gmail.com.
