Peggy Lipschutz: True, Beautiful & Strong

2

On August 23, MD sat down for a visit with Chicago's artistic treasure, Peggy Lipschutz. In 1970, the Old Town School of Folk Music moved from its original location at 333 W. North Avenue, to the Aldine Building at 909 W. Armitage in Lincoln Park.

Lipschutz created three portraits for new site of the Old Town School where the images of folk icons Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger, along with blues legend Big Bill Broonzy have hung since 1970.

In a new 24 minute film, produced for WLUW 88.7 fm, Lipschutz talks about the famous  paintings, her life in art, and her new show opening on September 7, 2012.

Lipschutz and MD also collaborate on one her favorite songs, "It Could Be a Wonderful World."
