The Book Table, located in the heart of downtown Oak Park IL, has recently initiated a GoFundMe campaign to help the popular book store stay afloat during the pandemic. Music & Potlucks, a community organization held a special live stream event on Wednesday, January 20, An Inaugural (High)Ball, to support The Book Table.
The event featured music, a trivia contest, readings of past in augural poems and the video of Amanda Gorman reciting her composition, “The Hill We Climb” at the Capitol building earlier in the day.
Music & Potlucks codirector Betsy Backes hosted the event. “We are so proud to have partnered with The Book Table on this event,” said Backes. “It came about on a spur-of-the-moment."
Over forty people attended the event which raised almost $1,300 to support The Book Table.
"They’ve done so much for this community over the years,” said Backes. And it’s our tun now to help make sure The Book Table will survive these tough economic times.”
