The Bloomquists, Dvorak team up for a legendary acoustic double bill in South Haven May 21
SOUTH HAVEN MI - Foundry Hall for the Arts will present a rare acoustic double bill featuring Ruth and Max Bloomquist of Muskegon, MI, and Chicago’s official troubadour Mark Dvorak on Saturday, May 21 at 7:30 pm. The concert will take place at Liberty Hyde Bailey Museum, 903 South Bailey.
2016 marks the Bloomquist’s 40th anniversary of making music together at a husband and wife duo. Their YouTube video, “Michigan Girl,” has reached over 340,000 views.
“They’re folk music legends here in Michigan," said Foundry Hall director Lotte Resek. “They and Mark are collaborating on a few shows together this year, and we’re so excited they are joining us at Foundry Hall. This is what community music is all about.”
“Ruth and Max and I have been crossing paths for years,” said Dvorak. “I first heard them perform at a music conference in the Chicago area. I liked their songwriting very much and their harmonies. And Ruth’s voice just blew everyone away. I’m really looking forward to our first co-bill together.”
Dvorak has released seventeen albums to date and continues to record in his home studio outside Chicago in Riverside, IL. “Right now I’m working on new music a couple of days every week. I’m also editing and writing material for a new book. So it’s busy time,” he said.
