Chicago folk artist Dvorak featured for two shows October 8
LYNDHURST OH - Folknet, northeast Ohio’s folk, traditional music and dance society, welcomes Chicago’s “official troubadour” Mark Dvorak for two concerts on Saturday, October 8. The events will take place at Church of the Good Shepherd, 23599 Cedar Road in Lyndhurst.
Dvorak will present his “What a Wonderful World Family Concert” at 3:30 pm, and return for an acoustic evening concert at 7:30 pm.
“Mark just sparkles when he sings for children,” said Folknet board member Joanne Laessig. “He came to Ohio last spring to perform at the Dulci-more Festival and really wowed the audience. We had lunch the next afternoon and I started working on plans to get him to come to the Cleveland area. We’re very excited to present him as part of our new concert series.”
“Mark has been on the road for a lot of years it seems,” said singer songwriter and Folknet president Charlie Mosbrook. "He’s a favorite in the Midwest and is gaining attention across the country. His songwriting is incredible. We’re really thrilled to be able to present him.”
Last year Dvorak released his seventeenth album, “Back Home,” on his own Ten Fingers label. “It’s a compilation of the different kinds of songs I like to perform live,” said the singer, who now records in his home studio in Riverside IL. “I’m working on new stuff all the time and hope to have a new project released by the end of the year.”
“He’s the real deal,” said Bau Graves, Executive Director of Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk Music. ”Mark has made music his life and livelihood. He’s been a top faculty member at the school for more almost thirty years. His performances are elegant, rich and powerful.”
General admission to the evening concert is $15, $12 for Folknet members. For more information phone 216 702 5983 or 216 321 7073. Visit Folknet on the web at www.folknet.org.
