Uncommon double bill at Burlington coffeehouse April 16
BURLINGTON WI - The Coffeehouse at Chestnut and Pine, 492 N. Pine Street welcomes Chicago’s “official troubadour” Mark Dvorak, and Lake Geneva singer-songwriter David Hawkins for an all acoustic double bill on Saturday, April 16 at 7:00 pm.
Dvorak has released seventeen albums to date and performed in thirty-eight states, and in Canada, Ireland and Finland. In 2013 he was honored by Folk Alliance International with the FARM Lantern Bearer Award for his contributions to folk and community music. That same year he published his first book of essays and poetry, “Bowling for Christmas and Other Tales from the Road.”
“Mark has been on the road for a lot of years it seems,” said Hawkins. "He’s a favorite in the Midwest and is gaining attention across the country. I’m really thrilled to be sharing the night with him in Burlington.”
Hawkins released his debut CD in 2007 and has recorded two albums since. His most recent album “Everything That Brought You Here,” was released in 2014 and mixes songs by influential writers with Hawkins’ own originals.
“I taught literature for a long time,” said Hawkins who retired early from the faculty at Lake Forest High School to pursue music. “I hear language and that certainly influences how I craft a song,” he said.
“Actually David and I met in the back of a RV camper on our way to a music conference in Memphis,” said Dvorak. “We obviously had a lot of music in common and agreed to work together in the future. I’m really looking forward to it.”
