Music & Potlucks salutes Abraham Lincoln February 14
OAK PARK IL - Music & Potlucks, a community organization will present President’s Day visit with Mr. Lincoln on Sunday, February 14 at 7:30 pm CST. The program will support Housing Forward and feature a guest appearance by Kevin Woods as Abraham Lincoln. Music & Potlucks resident artist Mark Dvorak will also perform.
President Lincoln was one of the nation’s most beloved and esteemed historical figures. He rose from obscurity, pursed self-study to become a well-educated man and attained the highest office in the land.
“I met Kevin at an event here in Oak Park a couple of years ago,” said Music & Potlucks co-director Betsy Backes. “His portrayal was warm and informative, entertaining and genuine.”
“I thought, ‘What a perfect event for Music & Potlucks on Lincoln’s birthday.
As the 16th President of the United States, Woods has made appearances at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum, the Lincoln Home National Historic Site, the Lincoln Heritage Museum as well as at libraries, festivals and other historic events.
Chicago folk troubadour Mark Dvorak will also perform a selection of period folk songs on guitar and 5-string banjo.
