Celebrate Hudson presents Chicago troubadour Mark Dvorak June 17
HUDSON MI - Celebrate Hudson Music in Park will present Chicago singer songwriter, storyteller and banjo player Mark Dvorak in concert at Webster Park, 116 Madison Street, on Thursday, June 17 at 6:30 pm EDT.
“Live music will be back in the park this summer,” said Dave Sheely, director of the Music in the Park Series. “We had Mark scheduled last summer, but of course we had to shut everything down due to the pandemic. We’re thrilled Mark is able to join us. He is a masterful musician and a Midwest treasure."
“At this stage of the game,” said Dvorak, “I feel like I’m doing my best work. Like every other musician, I’ve had some time on my hands.”
“I decided to go back through my notes and notebooks to see what was in there, and what I might be able to come up with. I’ve been writing and recording for the last six months, and attending to projects I didn’t have time to dig into before the pandemic.”
As a result Dvorak is planning to release a new CD and a collection of essays. His 19th CD Live & Alone is set of live material recorded in an empty concert hall fora 98.7 fm WFMT broadcast. He is also busy at work on a collection of essays, "31 Winters.” Both projects are due out later this year.
Dvorak has performed in thirty-eight states and in parts of Europe and Canada. He has won awards for journalism and children’s music. In 2013 he received the FARM Lantern Bearer Award from Folk Alliance International and in 2008 he received the Woodstock Folk Festival Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2012 The Midnight Special radio program host Rich Warren named him “Chicago’s official troubadour."
