30th Big Muddy Folk Festvial May 13 & 14

BOONVILLE MO -The 30th Big Muddy Folk Festival will take place on Friday, May 13 and Saturday May 14 in historic Thespian Hall, Main & Vine Streets, downtown Boonville. The event is sponsored by the Friends of Historic Boonville.

The event features performances, workshops, jam sessions, dancing and food.

The Friday night concert is headline by Chicago’s folk singer songwriter Mark Dvorak who is making his third appearance at Big Muddy. Also appearing on the Friday night schedule are fiddle master Howard Marshall, Snorty Horse featuring Dave Para and vocal trio Artemisia. The concert begins at 7:00 pm and the barn dance begins after the program’s conclusion.

Saturday evening’s event will feature Missouri’s own River Ridge Stringband, songwriter, activist & teacher Violet Vander Haar, the Gumbo Bottom Review and Charm City Junction closes the show. The concert begins at 7:00 pm and the barn dance begins after the program’s conclusion.

Workshop topics include Mountain Dulcimer with Carol Welch, Shape Note Singing with Dave Para, The Guitar According to Mark with Mark Dvorak, Fiddles and Forests with Mike & Tenley, Hammered Dulcimer with Cliff White, Surviving A Folk Jam with Mark Dvorak, Backing Up a Fiddle Tune with Charm City Junction, 5-String Banjo with Brad, Dave & Mark, Fiddle with Howard & Mike, Group Singing with Artemisia, Mountain Dulcimer with Susan McFarland, Old-Time Jam with Charm City Junction and Kid Songs with Violet Vonder Haar.
