Just Something My Grandma Used to Sing

Dvorak will present “Just Something My Grandma Used to Sing,” an autobiographical program of songs and stories.

“My grandma used to sing all time, around the house and on car rides,” said Dvorak. “She was also in Sweet Adelienes group in the 1950s and knew lots of old songs from the 30s and 40s. Over the years I’ve been adding arrangements of these classics to my repertoire.”

“Mark is one our audience favorites,” said Bernadette Duvenroy, Executive Director. “He is musical, engaging and very entertaining. I’m expecting a overflow response."

“He’s the real deal,” said Bau Graves, Executive Director of Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk Music. ”Mark has made music his life and livelihood. He’s been a top faculty member at the school for more than twenty-five years. His performances are elegant, rich and powerful.”

Dvorak released his seventeenth album last July, “Back Home,” on his own Ten Fingers label. “It’s a compilation of the different kinds of songs I like to perform live,” said the singer, who recorded the project in his home studio, and played all the instruments. “I like being able to work in the comfort of my home studio. At home, I can work until I get a take I really like; something that has the energy and life of a live performance,” he said.

Admission to the program is free, but registration is required. The concert will be held at 225 Alton Square Mall, located on the east side of the mall on the second floor.
