20th Annual Pickin’ Party at the Homeplace June 9 & 10

DOVER TN - The Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area presents the 20th Annual Pickin’ Party at the Homeplace. The event takes place at The Homeplace, an 1850s working farm located on The Trace about 14 miles north of Dover near the South Bison Range.


“There will be music all day,” said event director Cindy Earls. “Music carries the oral traditions of our ancestors and shares their stories of hardship, sorrow and celebration!”

Featured performers include banjo picker, guitarist and singer Mark Dvorak from the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago IL, old time musician JD Wilkes, the bluegrass sounds of Jack Martin & Good Company, roustabout tunes from the river by the Wheelhouse Rounders, country and old-time music by The Dixie Volunteers, original and traditional songs by Common Thread and the dulcimer group All Strung Out.

Both days at the festival will be emceed by Nathan Blake Lynn and Josh Coffey.

Bring your instruments and sign up for an open mic session each day. Open jamming takes place at the Tool Barn.

Other activities on Saturday, June 9 include Knitting in Public at the single pen house and a Piggy Party down at the Hog Pen. 

Activities on Sunday, June 10 include Whistle While You Work in the Garden and Ring Ring the Anvil at the Blacksmith Shop.
