I Dreamed I Saw Joe Hill Last Night
Old Town School faculty member Peggy Browning, artist Peg Lipschutz and Old Town School Executive Director Bau Graves pose with Lipschutz' portrait of song writer, musician, activist and martyr Joe Hill. The portrait was officially added to the Old Town School's permanent collection on May 30, and is on display in the main lobby of the West Building, 4544 N. Lincoln Avenue, Chicago.
The project to purchase the painting was headed up by Browning, a member of the Old Town School faculty since 2006, and folk musician Mark Dvorak, who is artist-in-residence at the school.
"Our initial goal was to raise $1,600 to purchase the painting for the school and have it framed." said Browning. …
MD produces The Circle Game
79 years not long to wait for Old Town School student's first CD
CHICAGO IL - Seventy-nine year old singer and guitarist Marge Weber will celebrate the release of her first CD, The Circle Game with a special appearance at The Grafton Pub, 4530 N. Lincoln Avenue, Chicago, in Tuesday, June 25.
Weber, who resides in Elk Grove Village, first fell in love with singing in her church choir while growing up, but never had time to study the guitar.
"My husband and I had such a busy life," she said. "We were raising kids, keeping our church going and taking in foster children. When I turned seventy, I told my son that I regretted not taking the time to learn the guitar better. …
