Showcasing SERFA

Chicago's official troubadour will appear at the Southeast Regional Folk Alliance Conference in Montreat, North Carolina on Thursday and Friday, May 16 and 17. Loretta Sawyer Acoustic Arts will be presenting Dvorak along with Woodsongs' host and creator Michael Johnathon, and others in an after-hours showcase in Room 218 of the historic conference center.

Dvorak was named "Chicago's Troubadour" by Rich Warren of WFMT's Midnight Special radio program and is Artist-in-Residence at Chicago's Old Town School of Folk Music. Dvorak has sustained a career of performing, recording and teaching for more than twenty-five years. …

Folk singer Dvorak and treasured guitar, return to Valparaiso for April 27 concert

VALPARAISO IN - When folk singer and song writer Mark Dvorak takes the stage at Front Porch Music on April 27, he will be picking and strumming on a vintage guitar purchased at the Valparaiso music store sixteen years ago.

"It's a Martin Golden Era small body," said Dvorak. "The last time I played Front Porch Music was in 1997 and I saw it hanging there in the shop upstairs. I fell in love with it immediately. It's a beautiful instrument with such a warm and balanced sound. I wound up playing it for about an hour, but there was no way I could afford it."

Leading & following at the folk jam

DOWNERS GROVE IL - The Plank Road Folk Music Society and the Two Way Street Coffee House present a hands on workshop with folk singer and Old Town School of Folk Music faculty member Mark Dvorak, “Leading and Following At the Folk Jam.” The session takes place on Saturday, June 8, from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm in the Parlor at the First Congregational Church of Downers Grove, 1047 Curtiss, Downers Grove, IL. An all-acoustic jam session and sing along will follow the workshop, beginning at 3:30 pm.
