Pickin at The Home Place


Join us Saturday and Sunday, May 26 & 27 for The Pickin Party : Old Time Music at the Homeplace.

Born of the heartland, raised in the river valleys, old-time country music this weekend will once again echo in the hills and hollows of Land Between The Lakes.  For two days, experience the best of old-time music through workshops, pickin’ sessions and energized performances of folk, string band, old-time fiddle, banjo, and bluegrass music. Bring your banjo, guitar, fiddle, or harmonica and join in on the fun during daily open mic sessions.  Through out the day, stroll through the historic buildings, fields and gardens, and talk with the 1850s farm family. 1850s children’s activities will be provided throughout the weekend. …

The King @ the Old Town School Second Half


The "Second Half" has been an Old Town School tradition since the first classes were held in a living room in Oak Park, Illinois in 1956. To this day, all classes are invited to one of the Old Town School's gathering places after class, for a thirty-minute session led by instructors and involving student-musicians of all levels, for a one-of-a-kind sing along and jam session.
