Folksinger Dvorak to perform in Skokie music series April 8
SKOKIE IL - St. Tim’s Coffeehouse will present Chicago’s “official troubadour,” Mark Dvorak in concert on Saturday, April 8 at 7:00 pm. The event takes place at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church, 9000 Kildare Avenue.
“We’re well into our second season of presenting music,” said music coordinator Sandy Wong Darroch. “Venues for acoustic music seem to come and go, and we felt the time was right to give it a try. We feel there is a real need in the north suburbs for a series like St. Tim’s".
“Mark was on our short list when we opened our doors last year,” said Darroch. “We were finally able to find a date, and we’re so excited that he’ll be joining us."
Dvorak has recorded seventeen albums to date, including his acclaimed 2011 Waterbug release, Time Ain’t Got Nothin’ On Me. In 2012 he was honored with the FARM Lantern Bearer Award by Folk Alliance International, and in 2012 was also named “Chicago's official troubadour” by WFMT 98.7 fm Midnight Special host Rich Warren.
“He’s the real deal,” said Bau Graves, Executive Director of Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk Music. ”Mark has made music his life and livelihood. He’s been a top faculty member at the school for more than twenty-five years. His performances are elegant, rich and powerful.”
The Chicago Tribune has called him “masterful,” and the Fox Valley Folk Festival describes him as “a living archive of song and style.” In 2013 he published his second collection of essays and poetry, “Bowling for Christmas & Other Tales from the Road.”
General admission is $20. For information phone 847 676 1300. Reservations and further information at www.sttimothyskokie.org/coffee-house.html.
