Folk, blues & americana music come to Shawano June 14

SHAWANO WI - The Shawano County Historical Society welcomes Chicago’s “official troubadour” Mark Dvorak and blues / americana singer songwriter John Stano for a double bill evening of acoustic music Friday, June 14 at 7:00 pm. The event takes place at Old Tabor Church, Heritage Park, 524 N. Franklin Street.

Dvorak, who is busy at work on his eighteenth CD release is looking forward to working with Stano.

“John and I have been crossing paths for a while now it seems,” said the singer. We met up recently in Grand Rapids, Michigan and began talking about doing some shows together. I’m really looking forward to it."

Milwaukee’s John Stano is an award-winning songwriter and performer. “Sing Out!” magazine compared his music to early Bob Dylan, and “Dirty Linen” was reminded of Country Joe McDonald.

“Mark is treasure in the Midwest,” said Stano. “He’s a great musician and has an impressive resume. We share the same love of old-time music and blues. We’re both looking forward to the evening in Shawano."

“At this stage of the game,” said Dvorak, “I feel like I’m doing my best work. I’m hoping to get the new recording out early next year and I’m very excited about it. I’ve got some new material coming along, and I’m including a bunch of different things I like to do before a live audience. It should be a pretty special evening."

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased in advance at Glas Coffee House, Beans & Books or by calling 715 853 6879. Tickets are also available at the door one hour before the concert.
