Chicago folk artist Dvorak returns to Milwaukee for Legacy concert October 28

MILWAUKEE WI - Chicago’s "official troubadour" Mark Dvorak returns to Milwaukee for a Legacy Series concert at The Coffeehouse, located in Redeemer Lutheran Church, 195 W. Wisconsin Avenue. Doors open at 7:30 pm, the concert begins at 8:00 pm. Local singer-songwriter Steve Higgins will open the show.

Dvorak first performed at The Coffeehouse in 1988 when he met and befriended legendary songwriter and folk singer Larry Penn. The two became friends "and almost immediately,” said Dvorak, “Larry became a mentor, teacher and fishin’ buddy.” The two performed and recorded together regulalry until Penn became ill and passed away in October 2014.

Dvorak has released seventeen albums to date and has performed in thirty-eight states, and in Canada, Ireland and Finland.

“Mark has been on the road for a lot of years it seems,” said John Higgins, music director for The Coffeehouse, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary year. "He’s a masterful musician and an essential figure on the Midwest folk music scene. We're thrilled to have Mark back in town.”

“He’s the real deal,” said Bau Graves, Executive Director of Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk Music. ”Mark has made music his life and livelihood. He’s been a top faculty member at the school for almost thirty years. His performances are elegant, rich and powerful.”
