Chicago folk musician Dvorak performs in Ludington June 27-30

LUDINGTON MI - Summertime in Ludington means sun-drenched afternoons and sandy beaches. It means swimming and boating, hiking and dining. This summer also marks the tenth year Chicago folk singer-songwriter Mark Dvorak will travel north to entertain Ludington residents and visitors with his songs and stories.

“it’s been a highlight each year,” said Dvorak who is artist-in-residence at Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk Music. I’ve loved getting to know some of the people in Ludington and all the great places to visit.”

On Wednesday, June 27 Dvorak will perform at 7:00 pm at the Ludington State Park Amphitheater, 8800 West M-116. Admission is free. There is bench seating available or guests are welcome to bring their, folding chairs. For information call 231 843 2423.

Downtown Ludington presents “An acoustic evening with Mark Dvorak” LIVE at The Plaza on Thursday, June 28. The show begins at 5:00 pm and runs until 8:00 pm. On Friday, June 29, Dvorak will entertain at Luciano’s Ristoranti, 103 W. Ludington Avenue from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. There is no cover charge, but donations to the entertainer are welcome. Reservations are recommended. Call 231 843 2244 or visit

Dvorak is currently at work on his eighteenth album and has performed in thirty-eight states, and in Canada, Ireland and Finland. In 2013 he published his first book of essays and poetry, “Bowling for Christmas & Other Tales from the Road.” Also in 2013 he was honored by Folk Alliance International with the FARM Lantern Bearer Award for his contributions to folk and community music. In 2012, WFMT 98.7 fm fine arts radio named him “Chicago’s official troubadour.”

“He’s the real deal,” said Bau Graves, Old Town School of Folk Music executive director. “Mark has made music his life and his livelihood. He’s been a top faculty member at the school for more than twenty-five years. His performances are elegant, rich and powerful.”
