Midwest acoustic music in Ft. Atkinson November 30

FORT ATKINSON WI - The Cafe Carpe, 18 S. Water Street will present Midwest singer songwriter, banjo player & story teller Mark Dvorak in a special double-bill with Minneapolis guitarist and song writer Dave Cofell on Saturday, November 30 at 8:30 pm.

“Mark is like a modern-day troubadour,” said Bill Caplin owner and music director at Cafe Carpe. “We first had him here in 1986 and you could tell then that he was in it for the long haul. He’s become a musical treasure and one of our very favorite people in the whole world.”

Dave Cofell’s songwriting reflects both his rural roots and his life-long musical explorations. His performances include folk, blues jazz, country and classic rock. His musical influences include John Prine, Neil Young, Johnny Cash, Fats Waller and Howlin’ Wolf among others.

“Dave and I met at a conference last October in Grand Rapids, Michigan,” said Dvorak who is busy at work in his eighteenth recorded release. “We enjoyed hanging out and I got into Dave’s playing and writing. This our first time sharing the stage. It should be a special evening.”

Dvorak was named Chicago’s “official troubadour” by WFMT 98.7 fm Midnight Special host Rich Warren in 2012. He was won awards for children’s music, journalism and received the FARM Lantern Bearer Award from Folk Alliance International. In 2008 he was given the Woodstock Folk Festival Lifetime Achievement Award.
