Folk and Americana music come to Burlington August 3

BURLINGTON WI - The Coffeehouse at Chestnut & Pine welcomes Chicago’s “official troubadour” Mark Dvorak and the acoustic trio of singer songwriters $11 Supper for an evening of folk, Americana and original song on Friday, August 3 at 7:00 pm. The event takes place at the Coffeehouse at Chestnut & Pine, 492 Pine Street.

Dvorak, who is busy at work on his eighteenth CD release is looking forward to working with $11 Supper.

“They are a new and vibrant group. We all met at the Old Town School of Folk Music and I’ve watched Amanda, Michelle and Samantha grow as musicians, performers and songwriters. We’ve already played together a few times and have five more shows planned.”

$11 Supper is Amanda Healan from Nashville TN, Samantha K. Mills from Chicago and Michelle Billingsley, also from Chicago.

“We’ve been together just about a year now,” said Billingsley who plays guitar, mandolin and fiddle. “We work hard on our arrangements and harmony singing, and we like to bring a lot of energy to the stage.”

Healan plays the upright bass and adds ukulele while Mills plays guitar and five-string banjo.

“We three have become great friends,” said Mills. “And our music has been woven from there. We’re so looking forward to collaborating with Mark. He’s been very kind and generous to us and he’s a pretty amazing Old Town School teacher.”

Dvorak has performed in thirty-eight states and in parts of Europe and Canada. He has released seventeen albums and has won awards for journalism and children’s music. In 2008 he received the Woodstock Folk Festival Lifetime Achievement Award and the Lantern Bearer Award from Folk Alliance International in 2013.

“At this stage of the game,” said Dvorak, “I feel like I’m doing my best work. I’m hoping to get the new recording out this year and I’m very excited about it. I’ve got some new material coming along, and I’m including a bunch of different things I like to do before a live audience. It should be a pretty special evening in Burlington with $11 Supper."

There is no cover charge but a donation of $5 - $20 is encouraged. For information call 262 661 4394 or visit www.burlingtoncoffeehouse.com
